Creating a Logo/Text Cutout Effect in Divi
Welcome to my first tutorial of 2019!
In this tutorial, I show you how to create a cutout effect with a logo or text in Divi. Effect is based off of this site (as of 1/29/19). So crank up some Limp Bizkit if you feeling like throwing back to 1999 and let’s get to it.
Here are the steps shown in the video:Â (note that the order of these steps doesn’t really matter)
- Create a regular section
- Insert a video or image background
- Create a single row
- Input image or text module then insert image (make sure image or text is set to Black)
- Add row background color
- Adjust row to full width and set gutter width to 1
- Adjust padding of section to 0
- Add padding to top and bottom of row
- You may want to add some padding to the the image or text module
- Set row screen blend mode to “Lighten” or “Screen”
Then you’re all set!

I use Divi a lot.
However, I’ve never used filters. Thanks for the encouragement to play.
Very creative!
No prob, Glen. Yeah honestly I haven’t even scratched the surface with filters. So many options! Definitely worth playing around with.
Great tutorial. Always excellent videos. Thanks.
so simple so cool!! Thanks, I liked very much! Is this working also with video url or only .mp4?
Yep it should work either way!
Thank you for the video tutorial. Very cool and easy effect.
Thanks for the tutorial. I’m late to the visual builder party, due to I’m a backend builder guy since day one. Seeing what can be created, you’ve motivated me to not only start using the visual builder, but diving into all the features it has….like this one you showed us.
Keep up the great work you do!
I was late in getting into it as well but now I’m like 90/10% Visual Builder/Backend. Once you start feeling comfortable with it and learning many of the new features, it’s pretty darn awesome. Thanks for your feedback, Dean!
