In this guide, I’m going to walk you through a process that has been a game-changer for me and my community of web designers in Web Designer Proâ„¢. I’ll show you how to turn your YouTube videos into in-depth, SEO-optimized blog posts using ChatGPT.

This method isn’t about generating content from scratch but about repurposing your own words to create original, valuable blog content that can help boost your SEO efforts and most importantly…save you some serious time! If you’d like to watch me cover this full process, you can watch the video walkthrough here

Now let’s dig in!

Why Use ChatGPT for Blog Posts?

First off, I want to reiterate that this method is NOT about creating content using AI in a way that contributes to the “AI duplication slop” of regurgitated content. Instead, it’s about taking the words you’ve already spoken in your videos and using AI to organize and structure those words into a well-crafted blog post. This not only saves you time but also ensures that your content remains original and true to your voice.

Step 1: Extract the Transcript from Your YouTube Video

The first step is to get the transcript of your YouTube video. This is straightforward if you have subtitles enabled on your video. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Go to your YouTube video.
  2. Click on the three dots next to the “Save” button and select “Open transcript”.
  3. Copy the entire transcript.

Step 2: Prompt ChatGPT to Create, Format and Structure a Blog Post

Next, you’ll use ChatGPT to transform this transcript into a blog post. Here’s the exact prompt I used in the video walkthrough example:

Create a 2500-word blog post using this text, written in the voice of a web design business coach, Josh Hall, and SEO optimized for website content collection.

Once ChatGPT generates the blog post, it’s important to review and format it. ChatGPT can provide a good starting structure, but you’ll need to refine it to ensure it fits your style and meets your SEO requirements.

  1. Title and Introduction: Create an engaging title and a compelling introduction that summarizes the main points of your video.
  2. Subheadings and Sections: Break down the content into sections with clear subheadings. This helps with readability and SEO.
  3. Bullet Points and Numbered Lists: Use bullet points and numbered lists to highlight key points and tips.
  4. Conclusion and Call-to-Action: Wrap up with a conclusion that reiterates the main points and includes a call-to-action for your readers.

Step 3: Prompt ChatGPT to format that answer in HTML for WordPress (or your preferred builder)

To save time on formatting, you can ask ChatGPT to format the content in HTML. This way, you can easily copy and paste the content into your WordPress post editor without having to manually adjust the formatting.

Here’s an example prompt to ask ChatGPT:

Can you format this answer in HTML so I can copy and paste it into a WordPress post?

After getting the HTML code, paste it into the “Text” tab of your WordPress post editor. This ensures that all the formatting is preserved, including headings, bullet points, and links.

Step 4: Optimize for SEO and Tweak in Your Voice

Even though ChatGPT can help structure your content, you still need to ensure it’s optimized for SEO. Here are some tips:

  1. Keywords: Incorporate relevant keywords naturally throughout the post. Use tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs to find the best keywords for your topic.
  2. Meta Descriptions: Write a compelling meta description that includes your primary keyword.
  3. Internal and External Links: Add links to other relevant content on your website (internal links) and to authoritative sources (external links).
  4. Images and Alt Text: Include images to break up the text and add alt text that describes the images and includes keywords.

I’d also recommend reviewing what ChatGPT kicks out and tweaking/editing it in your voice and tone.

And that’s it! 4 simple steps to converting your YouTube videos into SEO optimized blog posts without having to painstakingly rewrite everything you’ve already said in your video. Again, this method will work with any video hosted platform, AI language model or website builder.

Success Story: How Sam Leveraged This Method

One of my Web Designer Pro community members, Sam, used this exact method and saw fantastic results. Sam had a YouTube video on “Squarespace SEO” and decided to repurpose it into a blog post. Here’s what he did:

  1. Extracted the transcript from his video.
  2. Used a similar prompt to generate a blog post.
  3. Added an HTML format prompt to save time on formatting.
  4. Optimized the post for SEO with the right keywords and internal links.

Sam’s blog post started ranking quickly, and within a short period, his video and blog post appeared on the first page of search results for “Squarespace SEO checklist.” This is a testament to how effective this method can be. Final Tips

Repurposing your YouTube videos into blog posts using ChatGPT can help you create valuable, SEO-optimized content without spending hours writing from scratch. Remember, the goal is to use AI as a tool to enhance your workflow, not to replace your unique voice and creativity.
